STAMPEDERS RETURN TO QR CALGARY FOR THE 32nd YEAR

For Immediate Release

Calgary, April 26, 2023 – Who’s ready for some football? QR Calgary, the city’s leading live sports station, announced today that for the 32nd consecutive year it is once again the exclusive broadcast partner of the eight-time Grey Cup Champions, the Calgary Stampeders.

“Broadcasting the Calgary Stampeders games is a natural fit for QR Calgary,” said John Vos, Regional Program Director/Operations Manager. “QR Calgary and Corus Radio have partnered with the team for more than three decades and we are thrilled to renew this incredible partnership.”

For the first time in the team’s history, Stampeder games will be broadcast on both FM at 107.3 CFGQ and continue on the AM dial at 770 CHQR.

For the next three years, the longest serving broadcast duo in the CFL – Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Canadian Football Hall of Fame play by play announcer Mark Stephen and Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Calgary Booster Club Sportsperson of the Year colour commentator Greg Peterson – along with game host Jock Wilson, and sideline reporter Dave McIvor will call every play from every pre-season, regular-season and playoff game, with extensive pre-game and post-game coverage.

“We’re very pleased to extend our longstanding partnership with QR Calgary,” said Stampeders president John Hufnagel. “It’s a superb relationship that has stood the test of time and we look forward to working together for a 32nd consecutive season. We’re also excited to once again have Mark Stephen and Greg Peterson – the longest-running broadcasting tandem in CFL history – in the broadcast booth to bring the game to our fans.”

Football fans can catch all of the Red and White action on May 22 with a pre-season match up against the visiting Edmonton Elks. The regular seasons opens on June 8 when the Stampeders play at home against the BC Lions.
