EDMONTON, December 13, 2020Global Edmonton is thrilled to announce Vinesh Pratap as the new co-anchor for Global News Morning and Global News at Noon, Edmonton’s #1 news programs. Pratap will co-anchor Global News at Noon with Jennifer Crosby and work alongside the esteemed news team of Erin Chalmers, Daintre Christensen and Mike Sobel for Global News Morning.

Pratap joined Global Edmonton in May 2004 where he started as a weekend reporter before moving to late-night and then dayside. In recent years, Pratap served as the City Hall Reporter for the station. He has also covered law courts and general assignment. Prior to joining the team in Edmonton, he worked at Global Lethbridge.

“Vinesh is a longtime and valued member of Global Edmonton who will bring a unique perspective to our morning and noon news programming with his long history covering important beats like City Hall and Courts,” said Jim Haskins, News Director and Station Manager, Global Edmonton. “He also has a great sense of humour and we are excited for the city to get to know him differently in this new role.”

“I grew up watching Global Edmonton (then ITV) and see news as a critical public service; a chance to give a voice to those who might not have it and to keep the public informed about what’s going on in their communities,” said Vinesh Pratap. “I’m excited to bring my passion for news to Edmonton’s top newscasts and help our city stay informed.”

Pratap started his career at independent stations in Medicine Hat and Lloydminster. A graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at NAIT, he is born and raised in Edmonton.
