GLOBAL NEWS ANNOUNCES JAMIE MAURACHER AS NEW DIGITAL BROADCAST JOURNALIST COVERING HEALTH NETWORK-WIDE

Mauracher Begins New Role on Monday, May 3

For Immediate Release

TORONTO, April 19, 2021 – Global News is pleased to announce today that award-winning Global Toronto journalist Jamie Mauracher has accepted a new role as Digital Broadcast Journalist, Health. In her new position, Mauracher will be seen across the network and on Global’s 24-hour news streaming service via Amazon Prime Video Channels and the Global TV app. Her first day is Monday, May 3.

“The pandemic has shifted people’s priorities,” said Jamie Mauracher. “Health is now a main concern for Canadians but we aren’t just talking about physical and mental well-being. People want to know more about the policies that impact their care. I am excited to take on a role which will allow us to take a deeper dive into those questions, while updating viewers on the ever-changing world of health, science and technology.”

A member of the Global Toronto team since 2018, Mauracher has reported on a wide variety of high-profile stories. From the Yonge Street van attack and sexual assault allegations at St. Michael’s College School to features on housing affordability in Toronto and network collaboration on Global News’s extensive reporting on hydro costs in Ontario, she realizes the value of a unique and innovative story idea, and thrives on the rush of live television.

“In the midst of a global pandemic, the importance of strong fact-based health reporting has never been more vital,” said Chris Bassett, Acting VP, National & Network News. “Jamie brings a wealth of experience to her new role and her ability to explain complex stories and seek answers and accountability will be an incredible asset to our audiences.”

A graduate of Ryerson University’s journalism program, Mauracher has lived in three different countries and six provinces. A first-time mother, when she’s not giving viewers their daily dose of news, she enjoys traveling, working out and spending time with her family.
