TORONTO, December 5, 2019 – Curiouscast, Corus Entertainment’s podcast network, received six honours – more than any other private Canadian publisher* – in Apple Podcasts Canada’s ‘Best of 2019’ list released this week. Leading the charge for the network was breakout true crime podcast Crime Beat, which was named 2019’s most popular new show.

Crime Beat additionally placed first in the ‘Best True Crime Shows’ category and was selected both among 2019’s ‘Most Popular New Shows Overall’ and Apple’s ‘2019 Favourites’. Fellow Curiouscast podcasts Nothing Much Happens and Russia Rising were also recognized, receiving selections in the ‘More Shows We Love’ and ‘Most Popular New Shows’ categories respectively.

“We’re thrilled to see the hard work of our hosts and producers recognized by Apple Podcasts,” said Chris “Dunner” Duncombe, Director of Streaming and Podcasting for Corus Entertainment. “Curiouscast is all about great storytelling, great reporting and great listening experiences overall.”

Hosted by award-winning crime reporter Nancy Hixt, Crime Beat – which debuted this year as the #1 podcast in Canada (Apple Podcasts)** and has been downloaded more than 1.3 million times, takes listeners deep inside some of Canada’s most high-profile cases, sharing the story and details you didn’t hear on the news.

“From the moment we started Crime Beat we had one simple goal: to shine a light in the darkest places and in telling victims’ stories, give voice to the voiceless,” said Crime Beat host Nancy Hixt.
