TORONTO, September 18, 2023 – In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, a number of Corus Entertainment’s news and entertainment programs will be utilizing their platforms to amplify a number of diverse Indigenous voices. This year’s original programming includes:
ET Canada
In addition to ET Canada’s coverage of talented Indigenous entertainers year-round, on Friday, September 29, ET Canada will broadcast a half-hour special dedicated to shining a spotlight on some of the revolutionary artists who are making their mark in entertainment on Indigenous Artists & Icons: Inspiring Change. The special will feature in-depth conversations with Bones of Crows star Grace Dove and director Marie Clements, Tantoo Cardinal, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Kaniehtiio Horn, Shawnee Kish, Don Amero, Tia Wood, Boogey The Beat, Lesley Hampton, Sage Paul, Willow Allen, Braydee Cardinal, Brigette Lacquette, Jade Turner, and Jayli Wolf. Plus, activist and entrepreneur Shayla Stonechild returns for an inspiring discussion with creator Michelle Chubb on the importance of representation, and the changes they hope to see moving forward. The Morning Show
The Morning Show (TMS) acknowledges the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with segments throughout the month of September. Earlier this month, TMS kicked off its coverage with a sit-down interview with author Phyllis Webstad, creator of Orange Shirt Day, who discussed her new book Every Child Matters as the nation marks the 10th anniversary of her revolutionary movement. Later this month during the week of September 25, TMS welcomes two Juno Award nominated musicians – country artist, advocate and lawyer Desiree Dorion who celebrates her new album That’s How I Know and Anishinaabe/Cree artist Jayli Wolf who will discusses her latest EP God Is An Endless Mirror. On the morning of September 29, TMS will feature Andrew Stobo Sniderman and Douglas Sutherland, authors of Valley Of The Birdtail, who will reflect on the day and their bestselling book. The show also welcomes back Patrick Shannon and Joleen Mitton, the co-founders of Supernaturals Modelling, the world’s first and only all-Indigenous modelling agency, fresh from New York Fashion Week.
