680 CJOB WELCOMES WINNIPEG FAN FAVOURITE JIM TOTH

Jim Toth Will Host New Weekday Afternoon Show and Co-Host Newly Extended Jets at Noon

Both Shows Launch November 1

For Immediate Release

WINNIPEG, October 25, 2021 Global News Radio 680 CJOB is pleased to welcome well-known media personality Jim Toth as the new afternoon host for The Jim Toth Show airing weekdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The program will include engaging conversations on news stories while keeping an eye on the sports world, and will share information related to the station’s sports partnerships with the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Toth will also be joining Cameron Poitras as co-host for Jets at Noon, which will be extended to a full hour. Both of these shows launch on November 1.

No stranger to the airways, Jim Toth is a popular broadcaster with 27 years of experience, 16 of which in Winnipeg. His work has focused on sports content, most recently hosting TSN 1290’s morning show since 2016. Toth began his career in Alberta in 1994 with stops in B.C. before joining Shaw TV in Winnipeg in 2005. In May 2011, he took over the 680 CJOB Sports Show and in September of that same year, moved over to radio full time as CJOB’s lead Winnipeg Jets reporter and host of the Jim Toth Upperdeck Sports Show. Toth also previously freelanced as a co-host on Global News Morning and produced Global’s Grey Cup coverage in 2015. He was also a key member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers radio broadcast team and did play-by-play for several University of Manitoba Bisons football games.

“We’re excited to welcome back respected broadcaster Jim Toth to the CJOB team. Jim’s sense of humour, valuable sports knowledge and passion for community stories have drawn in engaging listeners and we’re pleased to have him round out our weekday lineup,” said Heather Steele, 680 CJOB Manager, Talk & Talent.

Additionally, the station recently shifted long-time favourite Hal Anderson from afternoons to weekday mornings with Connecting Winnipeg from 10 a.m. to noon. He understands news but values delivering information in an entertaining manner.

The complete weekday lineup includes:
The Start with Mackling, Megarry and McNabb airs 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Connecting Winnipeg with Hal Anderson airs 10 a.m. to noon
Jets at Noon with Cameron Poitras and Jim Toth airs noon to 1 p.m.
The Jim Toth Show airs 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The News with Richard Cloutier and Julie Buckingham airs 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
