Global News Calgary, Country 105 and 770 CHQR Broadcasting Live to Bring Calgarians All the Action, All Stampede Long

CALGARY, July 4, 2019 Corus Entertainment is proud to celebrate Calgary Stampede this year with expanded involvement across five properties, including visits from well-known Canadian TV personalities, ET Canada’s Carlos Bustamante and host of Food Network Canada’s Carnival Eats, Noah Cappe. Global News Calgary, Country 105, 770 CHQR, ET Canada and Food Network Canada will join forces to expand Corus’ presence at Stampede with a combined Corus activation right outside the Scotiabank Saddledome.  Global TV is partnering with Global News Calgary to bring Stampede attendees 10 incredible days of entertainment with Global’s Greatest Giveways on Earth. Stampede-goers are also invited to the Global and Corus booth to Rope a Steer for their chance to win amazing prizes and learn more about Global’s exciting new fall schedule featuring buzzed-about new shows Prodigal Son, Evil, The Unicorn and Carol’s Second Act and acclaimed returning series Modern Family, New Amsterdam and 9-1-1.

The fun continues on Wednesday, July 10 with the newly-earmarked ET Canada Day. In honour of Canada’s #1 Entertainment News Show’s upcoming 15th season, Entertainment Reporter Carlos Bustamante will be on-site from 5:30 – 7 p.m. to meet fans, take selfies and inject a little more glam into Stampede festivities. The first 300 fans to visit Carlos will walk away with some exclusive ET Canada swag.

On July 10, straight from Stampede grounds, Carlos Bustamante will be announcing a number of this year’s 2019 CCMA Award artist category nominations on ET Canada Live at 10:30am MT/12:30pm ET with some very special guests. Food Network Canada
New this year, ‘Take a Bite Outta Stampede!’, presented by Food Network Canada, will offer guests fun and unique ways to navigate Midway food at the Stampede, including the best new food on the Midway competition, and the return of the daily food awards highlighting the ‘best of’ across a number of categories. Joining the festivities this year is host of Food Network Canada’s Carnival Eats, Noah Cappe, who will participate in events throughout July 9 and 10 on Stampede grounds. First off on July 9, join Noah as he hosts and judges, the Best New Food on the Midway Competition, which honours the best of the best Midway food vendors. Welcome to all attendees, Noah will highlight drool-worthy vendors of the day and officially crown a champion! The awards ceremony takes place daily at 4 p.m. at The Market located in BMO Centre. Then on July 10, from 2-3 p.m., come out to meet Noah Cappe on-site at the Global News tent, located right at the steps of the Saddledome. Be sure to stop by and snap a photo with @FoodNetworkCA’s carnival food king himself. For foodies looking for the ultimate Midway Food experience, attendees can get their fill of all the best new Midway foods with the brand new ‘Take a Bite Outta Stampede!’ Midway Food Tours, presented by Food Network Canada. Guests will be taken on an exclusive behind the scenes tasting tour of some of the Midway’s highly anticipated newest food, get to meet the vendors who created them, as well as receive a special souvenir apron and and Food Network Canada stainless steel water bottle! Global News Calgary
Kicking off the festivities on July 5, Global will broadcast the Calgary Stampede Parade starting at 9 a.m., with live coverage starting during parade preparation on Global News Morning from 6 – 9 a.m. Viewers can also tune-in into the parade live on Globalnews.ca or the Global News YouTube channel. On weekdays, the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. weather broadcasts will be live from the Stampede grounds, as well as the 6 p.m. weather broadcast on weekends. On Tuesday, July 9, Community Day, Global Calgary will broadcast all-day from fair grounds, including full road shows at 5 and 6 p.m.

Additionally, for the duration of Stampede, Global News will offer visitors exciting kid-friendly activities, contests, photo opportunities and a phone-charging station.

770 CHQR
Broadcasting every weekday from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m., 770 CHQR will be broadcasting Calgary Today with Joe McFarland. On community day, 770 CHQR will also be broadcasting on-site all day long.

Country 105
Country 105’s The Odd Squad will be broadcasting live from the Stampede Parade on Friday, July 5. Winners of the “Best Seats in the City” contest will take-in all the action from the comfort of Lazyboy chairs from a prime parade-viewing location.  On weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Country 105 will also be broadcasting live from the steps of the Saddledome as part of the larger Corus activation. With exciting games and activations, Country 105 will be entertaining their listeners for all ten days of Stampede.

Every night, from 7 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and 6 p.m. to midnight on weekends, Country 105 will be broadcasting live from Nashville North and presenting some of Stampede’s biggest parties and concerts.

Afternoon Hosts Scott and Harriet will also be on the steps of the Saddledome on Tuesday, July 9 and Friday, July 12.
