Global News Toronto, 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and AM 640 Encourage GTA Residents to
Pay it Forward for #GREATERTORONTODAY

The City of Toronto Proclaims May 25, 2017 Greater Toronto Day

TORONTO – Global News Toronto is excited to host the second annual Greater Toronto Day on Thursday, May 25 in keeping with the spirit of its brand promise, Global News Believes in a Greater Toronto. This year, the station is joining forces with Corus Radio brother stations, 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and AM 640, ensuring an even bigger impact.

#GreaterTorontoDay focuses on making the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) a better place to live and work through an engaging social media campaign. Those living in the GTA are encouraged to participate by performing small acts of kindness and sharing them on social media with the hashtag #GreaterTorontoDay. By engaging with the event on social media, three participants will have a chance to receive $1,000 to donate to a local charity of their choice. These small acts can be as little as buying the next person in line a coffee, watering a neighbour’s plants, paying someone’s way on the TTC or donating to a local food bank.

“At Corus, we’re constantly striving to make this city better,” said Jackie Moss, Marketing & Promotions, Global News Toronto, 102.1 the Edge, Q107 & AM 640. “That’s why we’re encouraging GTA residents to participate in their communities and why we’ll be out all day engaging with our TV viewers and radio listeners, doing our part to spread goodwill.”

Talent and staff from across our Toronto news and radio brands will be spread throughout the city and surrounding areas, surprising and delighting people by performing acts of kindness.

A special Global News at 5:30 & 6 p.m. broadcast will highlight people participating in the campaign and showcase citizens who are committed every day to making the GTA a great place to work and live. Additional Greater Toronto Day coverage will be featured onThe Morning Show, News at Noon, Global News at 11 p.m., 102.1 the Edge, Q107 andAM 640.

Globalnews.ca will also feature extensive content, interviews, videos and social media feeds so viewers can catch all the action on-air and online. VisitGlobalnews.ca/GreaterTorontoDay, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter and instagram for more details on how you can participate.
