GLOBAL NEWS REGINA ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF MICHAEL FULMES AFTER REMARKABLE 41 YEARS IN NEWS

Michael Fulmes’ Last Day is August 30

Fulmes has worked with Global News for an impressive 20 years, leading newsrooms in Halifax, Edmonton and Regina over the course of his career.

REGINA, July 24, 2019Global News Regina announced today the retirement of widely-known news leader Michael Fulmes, effective August 30. Fulmes recently celebrated 41 years in the industry with over twenty years spent working with Global News Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Halifax.

Fulmes began his journey with Global in Regina as News Director before moving to Halifax to lead the Maritimes in a similar capacity. He moved to Edmonton to assume the role of Managing Editor before becoming News Director two years later. Fulmes returned to Regina as Station Manager and News Director for Global Regina.

“Over the course of my career with Global, I have taken immense pride in getting the best out of people by creating respectful and inspiring work environments,” said Michael Fulmes, News Director and Station Manager, Global News Regina. “It has always been my personal commitment to leave a station in a better place than when I started and to give people a chance.  I am confident I have done that and I am so thankful for the opportunities I have received.”

Fulmes is an award-winning news leader and journalist. He is the recipient of two Canadian Screen Awards, a Distinguished Service Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as dozens of news awards from RTDNA. Fulmes has also served on the Journalism Advisory Boards of King’s College/Dalhousie, Atlantic Media Institute, Mount Royal University, NAIT and RTDNA.
