TORONTO, September 13, 2021 – It is your decision, Canada. As Canadians head to the polls on September 20, Global News announced today plans for its 2021 federal election special, Decision Canada.

Global News brings Canadians election night coverage on all platforms so that audiences can easily access live coverage on any device. Decision Canada leverages the strengths of the Global News network from coast to coast to ensure the diversity of Canada is reflected in the coverage with the support of insightful and engaging guests and panelists across the country.

Live coverage will be available on Amazon Prime Video channels, Roku, the Global TV app, the Global News YouTube channel, Global News Radio, and streamed on Globalnews.ca where comprehensive news articles, interactive riding updates, and insightful commentary can be found. Also new this year watch history in the making for the first time airing Decision Canada on Corus’ HISTORY network, currently in free preview for most cable subscribers

Global News Radio stations in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Hamilton and London will provide commercial-free coverage beginning at 7 p.m. local time. Canadians can also listen by streaming audio on Amazon Echo, Google Home, RadioPlayer Canada and Globalnews.ca. Air times may vary per market and audiences are encouraged to check local listings to confirm timing.

Decision Canada is led by Global National Anchor and Executive Editor Dawna Friesen and Ottawa Bureau Chief and Host of The West Block Mercedes Stephenson. Two of the country’s top journalists, Friesen and Stephenson will guide Canadians through election night with results and analysis Canadians can trust starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Friesen and Stephenson will be supported by Global News’ election night panel, featuring Global Toronto Anchor Farah Nasser and Senior National Affairs Correspondent Eric Sorensen. Nasser will drive topical commentary with Sorensen utilizing virtual map technology to analyze results across the country as Canadians elect their next government. Chief Political Correspondent David Akin will offer comprehensive riding results at the local level using touchscreen technology from the nation’s capital.

Regional anchors involved in election night include Global Halifax’s Sarah Ritchie, Global Toronto’s Tracy Tong, Global Winnipeg’s Lisa Dutton, Global Calgary’s Joel Senick and Global BC’s Sophie Lui.

Other key members of the Global News team, including top radio personalities, will be positioned at key election battleground locations and party headquarters and will offer additional insight from the ground. Abigail Bimman and Alex Pierson will be onsite at the Liberal headquarters in Montreal, Mike LeCouteur and Jas Johal will be onsite at the Conservative headquarters, Robin Gill and Simi Sara at the NDP headquarters. Mike Armstrong and Lauren McNabb will be onsite with the Bloc Quebecois and Shallima Maharaj will be with the Green party in Toronto.
