CURIOUSCAST ANNOUNCES NEW PODCASTS FOR SPRING 2021

Slate Includes an Investigation into Modern China and Two Ground-Breaking New Fiction Podcasts

For Immediate Release

TORONTO, April 20, 2021 – Corus Entertainment’s award-winning podcast network Curiouscast announced today three brand new podcasts coming to the network for spring 2021. The diverse slate of podcasts includes two brand new fiction titles, as well as an investigative politics series that examines modern China. China Rising debuts on May 13, Season 3 of Marsfall premieres on May 24th and Escaping Denver launches on June 7.

“Telling powerful stories and introducing new voices is why we created the Curiouscast Podcast Network,” said Chris “Dunner” Duncombe, Director of Streaming and Podcasting, Curiouscast, Corus Entertainment. “These three new podcasts build on that goal and push us into brand new lanes in podcasting.”

China Rising – Launches May 13, 2021
On the heels of the very successful Russia Rising, Curiouscast and Global News present the second season in the “Rising” series, China Rising is an in-depth investigation into modern China. Hosted by Global News Senior Correspondent and Video Journalist Jeff Semple, this ten episode season investigates how China is quietly applying pressure and working to infiltrate the upper echelons of power in western countries, including Canada. It is also discusses whether China is indeed friendly and peaceful, as President Xi claims; or if Canada and its allies should stand on guard against China Rising.

Marsfall (Season 3) – Launches May 24, 2021
Curiouscast is very proud to welcome Marsfall to the network. In this fictional sci-fi series, the idea of leaving earth and its problems behind initially seems ideal, but no one anticipated how difficult colonizing Mars would be. Marsfall follows some of the earliest colonists to settle on Mars in the year 2047, and each episode continues the story from a different character’s perspective. Led by their fearless commander Jacki O’Rania, and assisted by the artificial intelligence unit ANDI, they strive to make a home on the Red Planet while exploring its deeper mysteries. New episodes released bi-weekly.

Escaping Denver – Launches June 7, 2021
Meet Curiouscast’s first original fiction podcast. In this adventure series, Sara and Noah wake up in complete darkness, trapped miles below the Denver International Airport (DIA) with no hope for escape.  Join their perilous journey as they struggle for freedom from a mind-bending labyrinth filled with unimaginable horrors. Their only hope could come from the complete stranger they can send voice messages to. Escaping Denver dives straight into the deep end of conspiracy theories surrounding the Denver International Airport. New episodes released bi-weekly.

The award-winning Curiouscast network launched in 2018 and is home to internationally recognized brands with diverse audio storytelling, including: Nothing Much Happens, Bedtime Stories for Grownups, the #1 Canadian-produced music podcast, The Ongoing History of New Music*; 13 Hours Inside the Nova Scotia Massacre, Edward R Murrow International Podcast Award Winner and the ‘Most Popular New Show’ in Apple Podcasts Canada’s ‘Best of 2019’ list, Crime Beat**; and 2020 Canadian Podcast Award winners Dark Poutine, History of the 90’s , as well as Nighttime and Global News Whatever Happened To.
