TORONTO, September 10, 2026 – The HISTORY® Channel, the nation’s #1 Factual Network*, heads off-grid with its newest Canadian Original series, Mountain Men: Wild North (10×60) premiering Thursday, October 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and streaming on STACKTV. For the first time, the network’s long-running Mountain Men franchise comes to Canada, following a rugged group of individuals who have chosen to live entirely off the land in Canada’s vast and unforgiving backcountry. Mountain Men: Wild North is a co-production with A+E Global Media and produced by Blue Ant Studios.
In Mountain Men: Wild North, Canada serves as the ultimate proving ground, and is a frontier steeped in history – the same unforgiving landscape where Hudson’s Bay trappers forged a way of life centuries ago. The terrain is home to the world’s largest moose population, thousands of wolves and bears, and winters so extreme that temperatures can plummet to -50° C and daylight vanishes for weeks at a time. Following a group of seven, the series captures the isolation, resilience and relentless daily grind of those who choose to live beyond the reach of modern conveniences, guided by a simple truth: in the north, nothing is given and everything is earned.
From remote traplines in the boreal forest, along frozen Yukon rivers, and deep in wilderness where the nearest help can be hundreds of miles away, the series follows eight remarkable Canadians. Among them are:
- Rob Bauer (Rocky Mountains, Alta.): A seasoned trapper living alone on a remote 98-square-mile trapline, relying on traditional knowledge and self-sufficiency to navigate life in the wilderness.
- Randy Barrass (Whitecourt Mountain, Alta.): A veteran trapper and outdoorsman living alone in the cabin he built by hand, committed to preserving traditional skills and passing them on to future generations.
- Kielyn and Dave Marrone (La Cloche Mountains, Ont.): Off-grid homesteaders who have spent 15 years building a self-sufficient lifestyle, tackling everything from trapping and foraging to construction and bush engineering.
- Connor McMahon (Boundary Ranges, Yukon): An elite dog musher and homesteader training nearly 50 sled dogs while pursuing success in some of the world’s most demanding endurance races.
- Broc Simoneau (Wildcat Hills, Sask.): A lifelong hunter, trapper, and guide who now carries the responsibility of running his family’s renowned bear-guiding operation in the remote Saskatchewan wilderness.
- Aron and Jen Toland (Eliguk Lake, B.C.): A husband-and-wife team who transformed an abandoned fishing lodge into a thriving off-grid homestead while preparing year-round for the ever-present threat of wildfires.
Mountain Men: Wild North is produced by Blue Ant Studios in association with The HISTORY® Channel and A+E Global Media. For Blue Ant Studios, Executive Producers are Michael Francis, Lindsay Macadam, David Way, Tony Chung, Matthew Hornburg, Mark Bishop and Lesia Capone, and Greg Laikin is Series Producer. For The HISTORY® Channel, Lynne Carter is the Director of Original Programming, and Rachel Nelson is VP of Original Programming and Head of Corus Studios.
