Dale Hancocks is Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Corus Entertainment Inc., overseeing all legal, regulatory affairs and government relations associated with the company’s extensive operations in radio, television, programming, films, books, music, toys, and websites.
Dale began his career at Corus in 1996 as Legal Counsel to Nelvana. In 1998, he went into private practice, then returned to Corus in 1999 to become Managing Director for Nelvana’s international content distribution business, working in the company’s offices in London, England and Ireland.
Dale returned to Canada in 2005 and held the position of Vice President, Operations and Associate General Counsel, overseeing all production and outbound licensing activities. Most recently, he held the position of Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Inbound, overseeing inward licensing Corus’ conventional and specialty channel networks as well as legal matters for Corus’ channel distribution.
An internationally experienced commercial-focused lawyer, Dale holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Copyright from King’s College, University of London, a Master of Laws degree in Intellectual Property from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Western University, and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is a member of both the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of England and Wales.
