(TORONTO – Canada) – In two short weeks, the YTV BigFunPartyMix 2 CD has become the #1 selling compilation in Canada. Currently ranked #4 on the Soundscan sales chart, the CD sold over 10,000 units last week alone. The only other albums currently out-ranking YTV BigFunPartyMix 2 are the latest CD’s from Shaggy, Daft Punk and Nelly Furtado.
“We’re thrilled with the response to our second CD compilation,” says Susan Schaefer, Vice President, Marketing, YTV Canada, Inc. “ It demonstrates that there is a real demand for CDs made specifically for kids that reflects their taste in music.”
Building on the success of last year’s YTV BigFunPartyMix compilation, which went platinum in 8 short weeks, YTV BigFunPartyMix 2 features 20 hit songs from kids’ and tweens’ favourite artists including soulDecision, Aqua and Five. Many of the artists included in YTV BigFunPartyMix 2 are currently topping the charts on Canada’s #1 video countdown show, YTV’s Hit List. They include Aaron Carter’s “Bounce” and the bands S Club 7, Prozzäk, 98° and soulDecision. YTV’s own in-house band, Nuclear Donkey, led by PAT KELLY and JENNY RACICOT, the hosts of The Zone, introduce their latest track titled “The Zone” which was created with input from viewers on ytv.com. Packaged for the complete party experience, YTV BigFunPartyMix 2 includes ‘Party Facts & Tips’ (Tip #5: You shouldn’t wear your birthday suit to a birthday party), a ‘Truth or Dare Challenge’ as well as the ‘Celebrity Toss ‘n Tunes’ game and ‘Buffet Basketball’, an edible basketball game.
