This June, from Corus Entertainment’s W Network and the award-winning production team behind Undercover Boss Canada, comes a new competition series that offers a huge twist and life-changing opportunity for Canadian employees. Be The Boss Canada gives employees at leading national franchises a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take control of their future, rise through the ranks and become the boss, through exciting head-to-head challenges. Be The Boss Canada (6×60) premieres Thursday, June 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Viewers can follow Be The Boss Canada on Twitter @BeTheBossCanada, hashtag #BeTheBossCanada.
“Louder and fiercely competitive, Be The Boss Canada, is a perfect extension of Undercover Boss Canada.” said Vibika Bianchi, Vice President, Original Programming, Lifestyle, Reality, Factual Entertainment, Corus Entertainment. “This new series offers an emotional and intensely entertaining insider’s view into a once in a lifetime career competition.”
“Our series features top Canadian franchise brands. We have had the pleasure of working with Pizza Pizza in Undercover Boss Canada with Paul Goddard as an outstanding Undercover Boss. Now, Be The Boss Canada features the executive team of Pizza Pizza and two great employees who are ready to “go for it” in a huge way.” said Thomas Howe, Executive Producer.
The pressure is on each week as the series follows two outstanding employees from companies including Pizza Pizza, Anytime Fitness and Pita Pit as they try to balance diplomacy and competitiveness in a series of challenges to win a huge promotion – but unbeknownst to them, one may actually walk away with the keys to their very own franchise. The participants take part in week-long job interview for what each believes is a chance for a promotion, with enticing pay and perks. Meanwhile, the bosses are hiding a closely-guarded secret as the two employees battle to be the best and out-perform each other. The employee who doesn’t win the promotion will be in for the surprise of their life when they are told that they have in fact won their very own franchise, instantly making the jump from employee to business owner. Will they rise to the occasion, or will they crack under the pressure?
Below is a list of three of the companies participating in the series this season. Three additional companies will be announced at a later date.
Pizza Pizza – premieres Thursday, June 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
The bosses of Canada’s biggest pizza chain, Pizza Pizza, give two workers the opportunity to compete for a big promotion. Whoever gets the job doubles their salary. But there’s a catch. As they compete to rise through the ranks, they are put under tight company surveillance and every mistake they make gets reported to head office. At the end of the week, they face a nail-biting final job interview. One will earn the promotion, but the other will be in for an even bigger shock when they are given the keys to run their very own franchise and Be The Boss.
Anytime Fitness – premieres Thursday, June 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Anytime Fitness is the fastest-growing name in the world of workouts and there is lots of opportunity for talent to climb the career ladder. In this episode, bosses put two of their most promising employees through a week-long job interview. They will be tested physically, mentally and emotionally, and when the week is up, one is rewarded with a big, fat promotion. But, in a surprise twist, the tearful “loser” will be in for the shock of their life when handed the keys to run their very own franchise so they can Be The Boss.
Pita Pit – premieres Thursday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Bosses at fast-food favorite Pita Pit bring two of their most talented employees in for a meeting that will change their lives. But they will have to complete a series of high-pressure job challenges to prove that they are right for the job. One of them will get the gig – and be rewarded with an attractive salary package. When one surpasses the bosses’ expectations, they will be truly set for life – because they will be handed the keys to their very own franchise and get to Be The Boss.
Be The Boss Canada is based on the format devised by Studio Lambert, part of the ALL3MEDIA group of companies.
