(Toronto – Canada) – Astral Media’s The Movie Network (eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (western Canada) present the new series Brotherhood, premiering day-and-date with Showtime on Sunday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET on The Movie Network and 7 p.m. PT on Movie Central.

Subsequent episodes of the 11-part series will air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on The Movie Network and Sundays at 7 p.m. PT on Movie Central. Brotherhood follows two brothers living in ”The Hill”, an Irish-American community in Providence, Rhode Island, where the old-world ways of street justice and loyalty continue to rule the tough blue-collar neighbourhood. Tommy Caffee (Jason Clarke, Rabbit Proof Fence) is a local politician out to protect “The Hill” and its interests by any means necessary, but his complicated family and professional lives are turned upside down with the return of his gangster brother Mike (Jason Isaacs, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), who sets out on a vengeful and often murderous path to reclaim his turf. Caught in the turbulent crossfire is the Caffee brothers’ proud mother Rose (Fionnula Flanagan, Transamerica), who turns a blind eye to Mike’s shady dealings, and Tommy’s supportive wife Eileen (Annabeth Gish), who becomes increasingly wary of how her brother-in-law puts her husband and children in harm’s way. In a place where ties run deep and alliances continually shift, Tommy and Mike are constantly in doubt of who they can trust as they fight for power and control on opposing sides of the law – a fight that could not only destroy themselves but their families as well.

The series also stars Ethan Embry as police detective Declan Giggs, Stivi Paskoski as Mike’s close confidante Pete McGonagle, and Kevin Chapman as competing gang boss Freddie Cork. Brotherhood is written, created and executive produced by Blake Masters, with Elizabeth Stephen and Henry Bromell also serving as executive producers. The series will be available on The Movie Network and Movie Central’s High Definition channels and each episode will be available on The Movie Network OnDemand every Tuesday and Movie Central On Demand every Monday following its network premiere.
