kaBOOM! Entertainment Inc. announced today the first VHS release of the Nelvana-produced animated series of The Berenstain Bears: “The New Series” available for wide release Tuesday, February 25th, 2003 (pre-book January 28th, 2003).
With 40 years of unparalleled success in children’s literature, the author/illustrator team of Stan and Jan Berenstain has mastered the art of reaching both kids and parents with important life-guiding messages about family values through The Berenstain Bears book series. Worldwide book sales total over 260 million units with over 230 titles published. Now, for the first time ever, the Berenstain storytelling empire is making the new episodes of these classic stories on VHS. Each of the two approximately 50-minute videos contains four episodes.
The Berenstain Bears: The Birthday Boy and The Berenstain Bears: Trouble With Pets have a suggested retail price of $14.95 and will be sold across Canada at all major retailers. Lee Ann Womack sings the opening theme song. The videos introduce children to a wide range of important social values. Their universal experiences and every-day dilemmas persist in popularity, despite nearly half a century of technological advances and social change.
The Berenstain Bears animated adventures bring love, warmth and kinship to life for children and families to enjoy. The Berenstain Bears animated series currently airs on Treehouse TV four times daily on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It also airs Saturday mornings and afternoons. The series premieres on PBS on Monday, January 6, 2003. CD-ROMs from Scholastic Interactive, ELA and View-Master from Fisher- Price and more are all coming soon.
“The Bears haven’t changed, and neither have their readers,” said Stan Berenstain. “Kids still tell fibs and mess up their rooms and throw tantrums in the supermarket. The Bears have the typical problems that every family experiences.”
