(Toronto, Canada) Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana today announced that Kristin Davis (Sex and the City, Melrose Place) has been cast to voice the title character in the upcoming preschool series Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends. The show will make its U.S. debut this fall on Nick Jr. An international co-production from Nelvana’s Emmy¨ Award-winning studio and Absolute Digital in association with Callaway Arts & Entertainment, the 26 x half-hour 3-D CGI toon draws on the stories and world of David Kirk’s best-selling book series, which boasts more than four and a half million books in print. Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends follows the adventures of Bounce, Squirt and the rest of Miss Spider’s irrepressible brood as they journey through the whimsical, woodsy wonderland of Sunny Patch. This lush, 3-D series encourages kids to appreciate the differences in others, promotes acceptance and takes preschoolers on pint-sized adventures in a “big” little bug world.
“We are pleased to have drawn a high-calibre talent such as Kristin Davis to our production,” said Nelvana’s Pam Lehn, Series Producer. “We look forward to watching Kristin’s innate sweetness shine through as she helps us bring David Kirk’s memorable book character to life.”
“I’ve been a big fan of Ms. Davis’ for years,” said best-selling author David Kirk. “With a voice so gentle and so kind, she’s the perfect person to fill Miss Spider’s shoes.”
Currently in production, Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends is slated to debut this August on Nick Jr. (U.S). Other international broadcasters confirmed to date include: Teletoon (Canada), Five TV (U.K.), TF1 (France), Asia Television (Hong Kong), TV 12 (Singapore) and Cartoon Network Latin America.
