TORONTO – August 30, 2016 Disney Channel Canada kicks of the school year with new series The Lodge, a serialized mystery/drama inspired by the popular Disney Channel Israel series North Star (a Disney Channel/Yes Production). The Lodge follows 15-year-old Skye on an emotional rollercoaster as she reconnects with family and discovers new friends when she returns to her mother’s childhood holiday lodge. Poised to be the next big hit with intriguing storylines, catchy music and fresh new talent, The Lodge makes its North American debut Friday, September 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel Canada, following its premiere in the U.K.

After the loss of her mother, Skye returns with her father to North Star Lodge, the family-owned country hotel where her mother was raised years ago.  Eager to make a fresh start, Skye forges friendships with the locals who live and work at the lodge, but when she learns her father is planning to sell the lodge that holds so many treasured memories, she is determined to find a way to change his mind.  Now, she must lean on her newfound friends to help, although all may not be as it seems.

The Lodge features nine original songs integral to the story’s central youth-empowering theme, “believe in yourself.” The music video for the first song, “Believe That” will be available on disneychannel.ca and The Disney Channel App on Friday, September 16. Other videos will roll out on Disney Channel platforms throughout the fall.

Filmed on location in Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland with funding from Northern Ireland Screen, the series stars emerging talent from across Europe including: British actors Sophie Simnett, Jade Alleyne, Scottish actor Thomas Doherty (Doherty also stars in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants 2), Luke Newton, Jayden Revri, Joshua Sinclair-Evans and Bethan Wright, as well as Danish actress Clara Rugaard, Dutch actress Sarah Nauta, and French actor Tom Hudson. The supporting cast includes: Martin Anzor, Emma Campbell-Jones, Marcus Garvey, Dominic Harrison, John Hopkins, Cameron King, Geoff McGivern, Dan Richardson, Laila Rouass and Ellie Taylor.

The Lodge is commissioned by Disney Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and is a production of Zodiak Kids Studios. Lee Walters (Wolfblood, 4 O’Clock Club) is the series’ head writer; Raymond Lau (Dani’s Castle, CBBC/ABC Australia) is the producer; Steven Andrew (Secret Life of Boys, CBBC/ABC Australia) is the executive producer; Matt Bloom (Hank Zipzer, CBBC) and Dez McCarthy (Dani’s Castle, Dani’s House, Sparticle Mystery, and Millie Inbetween) act as joint directors.
