Only Canadian radio station to be recognized for Major Market Station of the Year
(Calgary, Alberta) Country 105 (CKRY-FM), Calgary’s most listened-to radio station, has been nominated by the Country Music Association (CMA) in Nashville for its Major Market Station of the Year award. Country 105 is the only Canadian radio station to be nominated by the CMA and is in illustrious company as one of the top 5 country radio stations in North America in 2014. The winner for the top honour will be announced at the 48th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 5 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Country 105 rode onto the airwaves in 1982 and quickly became Calgary’s choice for “Today’s Country” music. It soon became the dominating radio force in Calgary with the largest listener base in the market. Celebrating over 30 years of broadcasting, Country 105 not only captivates country music fans across the province, but is a philanthropic leader in the community. The station has helped raise awareness and secure funding for institutions through various fundraising events including the Country 105 Caring For Kids Radiothon, which has assisted in raising over $17 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation since 2003.
