Premieres Sunday, March 19 at 7 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET
(Toronto – Canada) Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (western Canada) and Astral Media’s The Movie Network (eastern Canada) present the second season of the Gemini Award-winning series, ReGenesis. With 13 new one-hour episodes, this made-for-pay television series continues to explore the threat of science on society, featuring stories that often precede news headlines. Leading off a first-rate Sunday night lineup that also includes HBO series: The Sopranos and Big Love, ReGenesis premieres Sunday, March 19 at 7 p.m. PT/ 8 p.m. ET. In an effort to keep one step ahead of the race on science, molecular biologist and rogue scientist David Sandström (Peter Outerbridge), executive director Caroline Morrison (Maxim Roy), and a team of extraordinary scientists research dangerous and threatening cases involving deadly new strains of HIV, mutant bacterium, bio-terrorism and atmospheric pollution that, if left unsolved, could wreak havoc throughout the world. Working for the North American Biotechnology Advisory Commissioners (NorBAC), Sandström and his team are often faced with frustrating setbacks, both scientific and political, that even NorBAC may not be able to control. This season’s episodes deal with a number of threats – including the Asian Brown Cloud hovering over Mexico City, a patent for a drug to suppress the gay gene and the awakening of encephalitis lethargica, a deadly retrovirus – that continue to provide cutting-edge scientific fact. The series’ scientific consultant, Dr Aled Edwards, is a world-renowned science and biotechnology expert, with labs at the Universities of Toronto and Oxford, England. Working closely with the series creator, Christina Jennings and head writer Tom Chehak, Edwards is committed to ensuring that stories are scientifically accurate and plausible.
