Corus Radio’s AM980 Becomes Home to Blue Jays Baseball in London
(London, ON) Corus Radio London today announced a new multi-year broadcast rights agreement with Rogers Media Inc. and Toronto Blue Jays Baseball. AM980 (CFPL AM) will be the official voice of the Blue Jays in the London market, broadcasting all regular season and play-off games, beginning with the season opener on April 3, 2016 in Tampa Bay, Florida.
“Along with the best in news and talk, AM980 is proud to deliver exclusive Jays baseball programming to the die-hard fan base in the greater London area,” says Lars Wunsche, General Manager, Corus Radio, Southwestern Ontario. “We are excited to now be part of the Blue Jays broadcast family.”
AM980’s live broadcast feed will include play-by-play by veteran announcer, Jerry Howarth, who will also be joined by analyst, Joe Siddall and play-by-play announcer/pre and post-game host, Mike Wilner.
“‘Home to Blue Jays Baseball in London’ has a very nice ring to it, much like Jose Bautista’s dramatic home run in last year’s playoffs. And so now to all listeners at AM980, you settle back and enjoy Blue Jays baseball on the radio … and we’ll be back right after this,” says Jerry Howarth, Play-By-Play Announcer, Sportsnet Radio Network.
