Toronto, Canada – Let the nightmares begin. Showcase’s buzzed-about, frightening anthology series, Channel Zero, seeps into the dark shadows of the imagination to bring a haunting tale to life, beginning Tuesday, October 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The six-part, self-contained season titled Channel Zero: Candle Cove is based on an unnerving story that gained notoriety as a “creepypasta” (user-generated horror stories that are shared online). The series follows one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it may have played in horrifying and deadly events from his childhood. In the chilling premiere episode of Channel Zero (Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT), child psychologist Mike Painter (Paul Schneider, Café Society) returns to his hometown decades after he witnessed the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother and four other children. Old memories resurface when one mother’s child goes missing after mentioning that she had been watching Candle Cove, a creepy public access puppet show from the 1980s. Although others remember watching the program, they are startled by the realization that it never truly existed.
From Universal Cable Productions, Channel Zero is from showrunner and executive producer Nick Antosca (Hannibal, Teen Wolf), who wrote the pilot, and Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra). The series also stars Fiona Shaw (True Blood) and Timmins, Ontario-native Natalie Brown (The Strain).
Showcase’s slate of powerful fall series continues with the season 2 premiere of Supergirl on Monday, October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, brand new original time-travelling drama, Travelers on Monday, October 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and the debut of futuristic thriller Incorporated on Wednesday, November 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
