TORONTO Corus Entertainment celebrates its outstanding Canadian content, as recognized by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television at a press conference earlier today. Corus-owned properties have earned Canadian Screen Award Nominations across Global, Global News and its portfolio of Specialty Channels.

Corus’ specialty services garnered 49 nominations including HISTORY’s Vikings, which leads Corus nominations in the television category with nine nominations for the series including Best Dramatic Series and Best Direction in a Dramatic Series, and two nominations for the special, Real Vikings: Age of Invasion. Corus dominated the lifestyle categories with four of the five nominations for Best Lifestyle Program or Series including: Masters of Flip, Leave it to Bryan, You Gotta Eat Here! and Great Canadian Cookbook and three of the five Best Host in a Lifestyle or Reality/Competition Program or Series with Anna Olson (Bake with Anna Olson), Noah Cappe (Great Canadian Cookbook) and Kortney and Dave Wilson (Masters of Flip) taking those nominations. Ambitious new multi-platform series Home to Win also nabbed a nomination for Best Cross-Platform Project. Corus’ popular Kids networks earned a total of 16 nominations led by Anne of Green Gables on YTV with three  nominations for Best Writing in a Dramatic Program or Limited Series, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Limited Series, and Best Original Music Score for a Program.

On conventional, Global’s fan favourite hit series Big Brother Canada received four nominations including Best Reality/Competition Program or Series. As the longtime broadcast partner of Canada’s Walk of Fame Corus is thrilled to see the program earn three nominations. Global’s entertainment powerhouse, Entertainment Tonight Canada received two nominations, recognized in the Best Direction in a Reality/Competition Program or Series category for their Survivor special and Best Direction in a Lifestyle Program or Series category for their Vikings special. Global News earned national and regional recognition with nine nominations that include Best National Newscast and Best Local Newscast.
