Founded in 1971, Nelvana is one of the world's leading international producers and distributors of children's animated content.
Nelvana develops, produces and distributes animated content, and is part of the Corus Kids Television entertainment portfolio. The Nelvana Studio operates out of a state-of-the-art digital animation production facility in Toronto. Nelvana’s library now has well over 3,200 half-hour animated episodes including such well known properties as Babar, Franklin, Rolie Polie Olie, and Berenstain Bears.
Nelvana’s content has aired in over 150 countries and has received over 70 major international program awards including Emmys and Geminis.

A leader in rights management, Nelvana is on the vanguard of digital opportunities. Beginning in Canada with Treehouse Direct, a digital download storefront, Nelvana has opened up new avenues for delivery of its content through strategic partnerships with Amazon Unbox, Azureus, BT Vision, Comcast, Reeltime, Tribal Nova and other pioneering companies in the emerging digital landscape.
Additionally, Nelvana is an equity owner of two exciting children’s channel ventures, qubo and KidsCo.
In September of 2006, Corus Entertainment, in partnership with ION Media Networks, Scholastic, NBC Universal and Classic Media launched a groundbreaking bilingual multiplatform television network for children called “qubo”. It broadcasts on three U.S. networks: NBC Saturday morning, Telemundo for Hispanic audiences and ION Networks, as well as a 24-7 digital kids channel, and is also available by video-on-demand. Nelvana programs airing on qubo include: Babar, My Friend Rabbit, Jane and the Dragon and Jacob Two-Two. Launched in April 2007, KidsCo is a branded global channel for children from Corus Entertainment in partnership with NBC Universal and the Cookie Jar Group, dedicated to delivering family-friendly programming. Its mission was to create an “independent voice” in children’s programming to include the best of the independent production community. The 24-7 multiplatform channel utilizes a state-of-the-art broadcast distribution facility in the U.S. and an international network of affiliates, airing content from Nelvana and Cookie Jar’s extensive catalogues. The channel is carried in more than 60 countries on more than 30 cable and satellite platforms.
