Corus Kids Holiday 2012 Highlights

(Toronto, Canada) This December, Corus Entertainment’s kid channels are celebrating the holidays with a festive line-up of new Christmas specials and holiday themed movies and episodes. On YTV, specials include Fairly OddParents, SpongeBob SquarePants and Mr. Young, Life With Boys and The Next Star. Viewers can also cozy up with classic Christmas favourites like Legend of Frosty the Snowman and It’s Christmas Time Again Charlie Brown. Nickelodeon presents a full day of Christmas specials including Big Time Rush, Penguins of Madagascar, and Victorious on December 23 during the December free preview. Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About... Christmas! makes its debut on Treehouse and is joined by a slate of other tinsel-themed toons.
 
YTV HOLIDAY 2012 HIGHLIGHTS

A FAIRLYODD CHRISTMAS
In this live-action one-hour movie, adult Timmy Turner and his fairies must save Christmas, provided that he gets off Santa's naughty list first. A FairlyOdd Christmas airs Wednesday, December 5 at 6 p.m.

IT’S A SPONGEBOB CHRISTMAS
Plankton vows to get his Christmas wish – the Krabby Patty formula – by turning everyone in Bikini Bottom bad by feeding them his special jerktonium-laced fruitcake. The “soon to be classic” special features John Goodman as Santa Claus and marks Nickelodeon’s first full-length stop-motion animated feature. It’s a SpongeBob Christmas! airs Friday, December 7 at 6 p.m.

LIFE WITH BOYS “NAUGHTY AND NICE WITH BOYS”  
Every year Jack tries to get the family to pose for the perfect holiday card photo and every year his plan fails.  So when the kids disappoint him yet again by botching the photo shoot, Tess feels guilty and makes them all swear to stop fighting, as the ultimate Christmas gift for dad.  The strain of bottling up their frustration leads to a big fight, and Spencer, afraid his misbehaviour will land him on Santa’s naughty list, runs away from home.  Tess tracks Spencer down at the mall, where the Santa imparts some pretty good wisdom, helping them all enjoy a better holiday season. Life with Boys: Naughty and Nice With Boys airs Tuesday, December 11 at 6 p.m.

THE NEXT STAR CHRISTMAS SPECIAL – “NOT ON THE NAUGHTY LIST
Adamo invites the Top 6 over to share some holiday cheer and reminisce about the fun season past. However, they quickly learn that isn't all he has planned. Adamo has a hunch that the Top 6 and the Judges may be on the Naughty List this year. So, he decides to take things into his own hands. What Adamo doesn't know is that the kids have something planned for him, too! The Next Star Christmas Special premieres Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. 

MR. YOUNG “MR. ELF”  
While returning a lost Rudolph to the North Pole, Adam unintentionally suggests Santa automate his workshop, which results in Santa firing the elves.  The unemployed elves follow Adam back to Finnegan to have him put things right. Now it’s up to Adam to find them a new job, or deal with their pint-sized wrath. Mr. Young: Mr. Elf premieres Wednesday, December 12 at 6 p.m.

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS PROGRAMMING

LEGEND OF FROSTY THE SNOWMAN
Narrated and sung by Burt Reynolds, with veteran actor/voice artist Bill Fagerbakke in the role of Frosty, this new chapter in the saga revisits Frosty many years after he shouts out his first "Happy Birthday!", when he appears in a little town where magic, silliness, and nonsense of all kinds are strictly against the rules. Legend of Frosty the Snowman airs Saturday, December 15 at 6 p.m.

A FLINTSTONE CHRISTMAS
When Santa has an accident at Fred's house on Christmas Eve, Fred and Barney have to continue his run for him. A Flintstone Christmas airs Tuesday, December 18 at 6 p.m.

A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
Repelled by the commercialism he sees around him, Charlie Brown tries to find the true meaning of Christmas.

I WANT A DOG FOR CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN
Lucy's little brother Rerun has always wanted a dog, but his mother does not want to have one in the house.  The more Rerun plays with Snoopy, the more he wants a dog. Hoping that his mother might change her mind once he finds one, Rerun talks Snoopy into writing his brother Spike, who lives alone in the desert, to come and visit.  Spike agrees to come...and the fun begins. I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown airs Wednesday, December 19 at 7 p.m.                                                     

RUDOLPH, THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
In this Claymation classic, a misfit reindeer and his friends look for a place that will accept them. Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer airs Thursday, December 20 at 6 p.m.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT…CHRISTMAS! – PREMIERE
Sally and Nick discover a lost little reindeer who needs to get home in time for Christmas. The Cat in the Hat is there to help! With Fish and the Things in tow, they all take off in the Thingamajigger to get Ralph back home to Freeze-Your-Knees Snowland. But their journey is side-tracked when the Thingamajigger breaks down, refusing to go go go! Help arrives from a number of friends, including a family of elephants, a dolphin pod and some very crabby-crabs. Will Nick and Sally keep their promise to Ralph to get him home in time for Christmas? Time is running out and it's up to this group of very special friends to work together to make it happen!  The adventure takes them to places they have yet to explore, as well as returning to visit old friends, all to discover the magic of Christmas. It's a race to get home in time for the holidays, and nothing can stop this Cat in the Hat! The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About… Christmas! premieres Saturday, December 1 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

DORA’S CHRISTMAS CAROL – SPECIAL PRESENTATION
It's Christmas Eve, and Swiper is on Santa's naughty list for trying to swipe the Christmas tree star! Dora wants to help, so she takes Swiper on a time-travel adventure to Christmas in the past and to Christmas in the future. Maybe Swiper will finally discover the true spirit of Christmas! Dora’s Christmas Carol premieres Tuesday, December 4 at 5 p.m.

DORA SAVES THE SNOW PRINCESS – SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Dora, Boots and the snowflake fairy are off to save la Princessa Sabrina and her snowy forest from a mean witch, who has locked her in a tower and taken away her magic snow crystal. Dora Saves the Snow Princess premieres Wednesday, December 5 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

TOOT & PUDDLE – “I’LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Children everywhere know and love the porcine pair from the Toot & Puddle series, written by Holly Hobbie. This hour-long special features the two inseparable pig protagonists, Toot and Puddle appearing in their first-ever animated adventure!  This tale finds the pair’s holiday celebration thrown into question when Toot travels to Scotland and a heavy snowstorm threatens to delay his return home. Toot & Puddle: I’ll Be Home For Christmas premieres Thursday, December 6 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

RUGRATS CHANNUKAH – SPECIAL PRESENTATION
During a celebration at the local synagogue, Tommy and Chuckie try to help Grandpa Boris settle a feud with Shlomo, a nemesis of Boris’ from the Old Country. Rugrats Channukah airs Saturday, December 8 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

TOOPY & BINOO – “Big Bad Christmas
When Toopy and Binoo find out that the Big Bad Wolf doesn’t like Christmas, they join the three little pigs in a visit to the wolf’s house.  After Toopy takes the reluctant Wolf on a magical yuletide journey, Binoo and the three little pigs give the wolf a present that solves an old mystery and just might make the Big Bad Wolf a nice wolf who loves Christmas. Toopy & Binoo: Big Bad Christmas premieres Sunday, December 9 at 5 p.m.

THE OCTONAUTS – “The Great Christmas Rescue”
The Octonauts travel to Professor Inkling’s childhood home for Christmas, an undersea mountain. They discover that a rockslide has endangered the local creatures – including a rare species of golden coral and Inkling’s little octopus nephew, Squirt! The Octonauts: The Great Christmas Rescue premieres Sunday, December 9 at 6 p.m. and repeats Tuesday, December 11 at 6 p.m.

LOST AND FOUND
A boy tries to help a penguin find his way back to the South Pole. Lost and Found airs Monday, December 3 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

CURIOUS GEORGE – “A Very Monkey Christmas”
George and the Man with the Yellow Hat are having a great time getting ready for Christmas. There is only one problem: neither of them can figure out what to give the other for a present! Can they solve their dilemma in time? Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas airs Monday, December 10at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

THE CHRISTMAS STOCKING TALE
Two mice, Kit and Tuffy, have only Christmas Eve to find the medicine they need for their little brother Skip, who is very ill. The Christmas Stocking Tale airs Friday, December 14 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

BARBIE IN THE NUTCRACKER
Barbie magically comes to life through stunning computer animation in this modern adaptation of the E.T.A. Hoffmann classic. Clara and the Nutcracker set off on a spectacular adventure to find the Sugarplum Princess, the only one who can break the Mouse King's evil enchantment. Barbie in the Nutcracker airs Saturday, December 15 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

ANGELINA BALLERINA – “All Dancers on Deck”
The Mouselings have a long voyage to Dacovia for a very special performance. On the ship, Angelina meets Miss Lilly's sailor nephew, Yuri. Yuri is in love with the captain's daughter, much to the captain's displeasure. Angelina Ballerina: All Dancers on Deck airs Sunday, December 16 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

CHRISTOPHER THE CHRISTMAS TREE
Christopher the Christmas Tree is the story of a small scraggly pine tree whose only wish is to one day become a beautiful Christmas tree in the home of a special family. Christopher and the Christmas Tree airs Monday, December 17 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

LOST IN THE SNOW
When Lily goes out to play in the snow, she leaves Teddy on the window ledge. BANG! goes the window and WHOOSH! goes Teddy on an exciting adventure. It starts to snow harder and soon Teddy is lost in the snow. Lost in the Snow airs Tuesday, December 18 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

TRADITION OF THE CHRISTMAS LOG
After head chef, Mr. Bakewell discovers Anthony's sister and her two friends hiding in the pantry, Anthony and the other assistant pastry chefs can only watch helplessly as the dessert for the hotel's Christmas dinner is ruined. Tradition of the Christmas Log airs Wednesday, December 19 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

LITTLE DRUMMER BOY  
A young orphaned Drummer Boy overcomes great hardship in the desert to deliver a gift of love to the Baby Jesus. Featuring the voices of Greer Garson and Jose Ferred, with music by the Vienna Boys Choir. Little Drummer Boy airs Thursday, December 20 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Caillou’s Holiday Movie
When winter comes to Caillou's house, this curious four-year-old tackles all kinds of big boy activities like helping Daddy shovel snow, making holiday presents for his family and even discovering the traditions of other little boys and girls around the world! Caillou’s Holiday Movie airs Friday, December 21 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Rudolph, a young reindeer, is shunned by the other reindeer because of his magical red nose.  However, he gains acceptance when his glowing nose helps him lead Santa Claus through a violent storm and enables him to deliver Christmas presents to children all over the world. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer airs Saturday, December 22 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Fred Astaire and Mickey Rooney tell the story of the young Kris Kringle, who grew up to be Santa Claus. Along the way, Kris meets the future Mrs. Claus and saves Christmas from the evil Burgermeister Meisterburger. Santa Claus is Coming to Town airs Sunday, December 23 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

THE Santa Claus Parade 2012 – PREMIERE
Join Santa and his reindeers and fantastic animated floats, celebrity clowns, bands and thousands of fans in celebrating the holidays. The Santa Claus Parade 2012 premieres Sunday, December 23 at 6 p.m.

NEW YEAR’S DAY

The festivities continue on New Year’s Day with back- to-back specials from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

CURIOUS GEORGE – “FOLLOW THAT MONKEY
George's adventures as he befriends Kayla, a baby elephant, at a magic circus show and helps her travel across the country to be reunited with her family. Accompanied by his friend, the Man with the Yellow Hat, George travels by foot, train, and truck to reach Kayla's brother and sister in California, only to be accused of elephant-napping and brought all the way back to New York City. Luckily, Kayla's owner sees what a good friend George is and realizes how much Kayla misses her family. Kayla's brother and sister are brought to the circus in New York. Curious George: Follow That Monkey airs Sunday, January 1 at 9 a.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Backyardigans – “Robot Rampage” – Double Episode Special PRESENTATION
Austin is a robot repairman in Mega City, where robots do everything, he must find out what is causing all the robots to breakdown. Backyardigans: Robot Rampage parts 1 and 2 premiere Sunday, January 1 at 10 a.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
