DUSK MARCH 2010 PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
(Toronto, Canada) This March, DUSK examines the dark side of love with gripping, supernatural-filled movies every Saturday at 9 p.m., including the network premiere of The Crucible, starring Joan Allen, Winona Ryder and Daniel Day-Lewis. March also brings the network premiere of the suspenseful Sixth Sense, starring Bruce Willis and Toni Collette. I PUT A SPELL ON YOU EVENT DUSK explores the power of women, or witches, in love and the dangers of an unrequited romance. This March, viewers can catch a bewitching and riveting film every Saturday night at 9 p.m. The Crucible (1996) premieres Saturday, March 13 at 9 p.m. In 1692, a group of teenage girls are caught practicing witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts and claim they were under spells cast by witches in town. Seventeen year old Abigail Williams (Winona Ryder) is the ringleader and infatuated with John Procter (Daniel Day-Lewis), a married man whom she once had an affair. Abigail and the other girls begin to accuse the town’s outcasts of sorcery, using the people’s fears to punish anyone who stands in their way. This may be Abigail’s chance to remove John’s wife Elizabeth (Joan Allen) from the picture. The film is based on the play by Arthur Miller and parallels the Communist hysteria during the McCarthy era. Other titles in the event include: Practical Magic (1998) airs Saturday, March 6 at 9 p.m. The Craft (1996) airs Saturday, March 20 at 9 p.m. The Witches of Eastwick (1987) airs Saturday, March 27 at 9 p.m. DUSK FILM PREMIERES High Crimes (2002) premieres Friday, March 5 at 9 p.m. Claire Kubik (Ashley Judd) thought her life was sublime. She’s a high powered lawyer happily married to a caring man, but Claire’s life is shaken when she discovers her husband Tom isn’t who he claims to be. His real name is Ron Chapman (James Caviezel), he’s an ex Marine wanted for the murder of Latin American villagers. Claire needs to wade through the murky waters of the military justice system and enlists the help of lawyer Charlie Grimes (Morgan Freeman), butthe trial is fast approaching and it seems every eyewitness is dead. Beneath (2007) premieres Friday, March 12 at 9 p.m. Fourteen-year-old Christy (Nora Zehetner) is excited that her older sister Vanessa (Carly Pope) is letting her drive as a birthday present. In her excitement Christy crashes the car and is ejected, but Vanessa is trapped inside as it goes up in flames. Both survive, but Christy has massive psychological trauma and Vanessa has disfiguring burns. Years later, Christy attends Vanessa’s funeral and senses that Vanessa isn’t dead, but that Vanessa’s husband Dr. John Locke buried her alive. Sixth Sense (1997) premieres Sunday, March 28 at 10 p.m. From director M. Night Shyamalan, this Oscar®-nominated film is one of the most suspenseful movies ever made. After a frightening encounter with a past patient, child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) meets a young boy with similar problems. Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) is a sensitive nine-year-old boy with a problem – he sees dead people. Crowe tries to help Cole get past his delusions, but slowly begins to wonder if Cole is telling the truth. All times ET. Check listings for local times.
