(Toronto, Canada) Canada’s largest kids’ broadcaster, Corus Entertainment, is spreading the February love with new series and specials for kids and their families. Highlights include a special Family Day premiere of The Penguins of Madagascar: Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge on Nickelodeon and a week jam-packed with Valentine’s Day-themed programming on YTV. As well, Treehouse kicks off its new schedule with two new series Guess with Jess and The WotWots.

YTV FEBRUARY 2010 HIGHLIGHTS

VALENTINE’S WEEK

From Monday, February 8 until Sunday, February 14 at 6 p.m., YTV counts down to Valentine’s Day with special episodes. The lovey-dovey lineup includes themed episodes from Nickelodeon’s iCarly starring Miranda Cosgrove, How to be Indie starring Canadian starlet Melinda Shankar, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and True Jackson, VP starring Keke Palmer – just to name a few.

Topping it all off, Valentine’s just wouldn’t be the same without the beloved Charlie Brown specials! Tune in as YTV brings viewers of all ages the classics: A Charlie Brown Valentine and Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.

A CHARLIE BROWN VALENTINE
The Peanuts gang is looking for love in A Charlie Brown Valentine, airing Saturday, February 13 at 2 p.m. (r) Sunday, February 14 at 8 a.m. Lovesick Charlie Brown hopes – still – to get a valentine from the Little Red-Haired Girl, as does Sally from Linus, Lucy from Schroeder and Peppermint Patty from Charlie Brown.

BE MY VALENTINE, CHARLIE BROWN
Love is in the air, but where are Charlie Brown’s valentines? Though he’s longing for some sort of love poem from the Little Red-Haired Girl, Charlie Brown would settle for a card from anyone! Meanwhile Linus’ crush on his teacher, Miss Othmar, has him desperate to get her just the right Valentine's gift. Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown airs Saturday, February 13 at 2:30 p.m. (r) Sunday, February 14 at 8:30 a.m.

FAMILY DAY ON YTV
On Monday, February 15, YTV is celebrating kindred-connections with a day filled with family-friendly programming fit for every relative. Beginning at 8 a.m., the network jump-starts Family Day with family-themed episodes of viewers’ favourite series including SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, iCarly, Drake & Josh and How to be Indie starring Melinda Shankar. The family affair continues from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on YTV with two back-to-back blockbuster films – Yours Mine & Ours starring Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo followed by Cheaper by the Dozen 2 starring comedians Steve Martin and Eugene Levy.

The fun won’t stop there as YTV takes family fun into the evening with a lineup of family sitcoms. Beginning at 4 p.m. with iCarly, viewers can sit back with their relatives and enjoy back-to-back episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, Everybody Hates Chris featuring comedian Chris Rock, 8 Simple Rules and What I Like About You.

TIM BURTON AFTERNOON ON YTV
On the eve of his latest project Alice in Wonderland, YTV honours director Tim Burton with three of his hit films back-to-back on Sunday, February 28. The lineup includes:
Corpse Bride (2005) at 2 p.m. – starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter
Beetle Juice
(1988) at 4 p.m. – starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara
Edward Scissorhands
(1990) at 6 p.m. – starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder

YTV MOVIE PREMIERES

ZOOM (2006) – PREMIERE

Former superhero Jack Shepard is called back to work to transform an unlikely group of kids into a new generation of superheroes. Holding an audition filled with would-be members, most of whom possess no real powers, Jack soon hires Dylan, a 17 year-old boy who can turn invisible, Summer, a 16 year-old girl with telekinetic powers, Tucker, a 12 year-old boy with the power to enlarge any part of his body and Cindy, a six- year-old girl with super strength. Starring Tim Allen, Courtney Cox, Chevy Chase and Ryan Newman, Zoom premieres on Friday, February 5 at 7 p.m. as part of YTV’s Big Fun Fridays.

NICKELODEON FEBRUARY 2010 HIGHLIGHTS

FAMILY DAY ON NICKELODEON

Airing day-and-date with Nickelodeon in the U.S., viewers can enjoy the premiere of The Penguins of Madagascar: Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge on Monday, February 15 at 8 p.m.

THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR: DR. BLOWHOLE’S REVENGE – PREMIERE

The penguins’ dolphin nemesis, Dr. Blowhole, is back and out for revenge. After Blowhole takes King Julien hostage, Skipper and gang must rush to rescue their annoying neighbour and stop evil Dr. Blowhole before he destroys the planet. This special episode premieres on Family Day, Monday, February 15 at 8 p.m.

TREEHOUSE FEBRUARY 2010 HIGHLIGHTS

GUESS WITH JESS – SERIES PREMIERE

Everyone’s favourite cat from the Postman Pat series now stars in his very own CGI animated show. Jess is a very curious kitty whose life mission is to find out more about the world around him. In every episode, Jess and his friends explore everything in their path from a beetle on the ground to a rainbow in the sky. Seen from an animal’s point of view, they discover answers to the innocent questions that pop into a child’s mind. A uniquely interactive series, Jess talks directly to the viewer, asking for their advice. A U.K./Canada co-production, all 52 10-minute episodes are produced by Nelvana and Guess with Jess Limited. Premieres on Monday, February 22 at 6 p.m.

THE WOTWOTS – SERIES PREMIERE

Meet siblings SpottyWot and DottyWot – two soft, puppet like aliens, who come to explore planet Earth in their steam powered spaceship and land in the local zoo. Amazed by what they see, SpottyWot and DottyWot scoot around in hover-chairs on a mission to discover all the exotic creatures on our planet. An ABC TV series, all 52 10-minute episodes are created by the Academy Award® winning Weta Workshop and Pukeko Pictures. Premieres on Monday, February 22 at 6:15 p.m.

FRIENDSHIP AND CARING DAY

Treehouse celebrates love with Friendship and Caring Day, airing back-to-back Valentine’s Day-themed episodes including In the Night Garden, The Backyardigans and Are We There Yet?: World Adventure on Sunday, February 14. Highlights include the following premiere episodes:

CAILLOU: MYSTERY VALENTINE – PREMIERE
It’s Valentine’s Day and Caillou is invited to a party at his friend Leo’s house. Caillou is excited and with Mom’s help, he prepares special valentines cards for his friends. Premieres on Sunday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m.

CAILLOU VALENTINE – PREMIERE

It’s Valentine’s Day and Daddy surprises Mommy with a bouquet of roses. At school, the children make valentines for all of their friends. Caillou imagines he’s cupid when he is delivering his cards but is upset to find he’s lost his special card for his best friend Leo. Premieres on Sunday, February 14 at 4 p.m.

ANGELINA BALLERINA (THE NEXT STEPS): ANGELINA’S BIG NEWS/SECRET VALENTINE – PREMIERE

Angelina and her friends mistakenly think Ms. Mimi is getting married. They go to great lengths to make her wedding day special. In the end, they realize they made a big mistake but Ms. Mimi is delighted to know they cared. When Angelina finds a valentines card from a secret admirer, she and Polly try to solve the mystery of who could have sent it. Premieres on Sunday,February 14 at 7 p.m.
