THE MOVIE NETWORK, MOVIE CENTRAL AND HBO CANADA HOME TO GOLDEN GLOBE®-NOMINATED PROGRAMMING

HBO and Showtime programming on HBO Canada, The Movie Network and Movie Central receives 23 Golden Globe® Nominations

(Toronto, ON) – Astral Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada), and HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of The Movie Network and Movie Central, are proud to be the Canadian home to 11 Golden Globe®-nominated HBO and Showtime series and films, with a total of 23 Golden Globe® nods.

Announced this morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Los Angeles, California, nominations for programming currently airing or offered through the on demand services of The Movie Network, Movie Central and HBO Canada include:

Dexter (Showtime) – 3 Nominations
  • Best Television Series – Drama
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Drama (Michael C. Hall)
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television (John Lithgow)

The fourth season of Dexter recently concluded on Sunday, December 13 on The Movie Network and Movie Central with a powerful and shocking ending. All twelve episodes from the new season are currently available on demand for approximately six months.

Big Love (HBO) – 3 Nominations
  • Best Television Series – Drama
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Drama (Bill Paxton)
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Chloë Sevigny)

Big Love (Season 4) premieres Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada.

Grey Gardens (HBO) – 3 Nominations
  • Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Drew Barrymore)
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Jessica Lange)

Grey Gardens is currently re-airing on HBO Canada, and is available on demand.

Into The Storm (HBO) – 3 Nominations
  • Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Brendan Gleeson)
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Janet McTeer)

Into The Storm is currently re-airing on HBO Canada, and is available on demand.

True Blood (HBO) – 2 Nominations

True Blood (Season 2) is currently available on demand and will return for a third season in summer 2010.

Entourage (HBO) – 2 Nominations
  • Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Jeremy Piven)

Repeat episodes of Entourage (Season 6) are currently airing Monday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, and season six is available on demand. Entourage will return for a seventh season in summer 2010.

Hung (HBO) – 2 Nominations
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Thomas Jane)
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Jane Adams)

Repeat episodes of Hung are currently airing Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada and season one is available on demand. Hung will return for a season two in summer 2010.

Taking Chance (HBO) – 2 Nominations
  • Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Kevin Bacon)

Taking Chance will re-air on HBO Canada on Saturday, December 19 at 9:35 a.m. ET/MT, and the HBO original film is available on demand.

Californication (Showtime) – 1 Nomination
  • Best Performance By An Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (David Duchovny)

The third season of Californication recently concluded on Monday, December 14 on The Movie Network and Movie Central. All twelve episodes from the new season are currently available on demand for approximately six months.

Nurse Jackie (Showtime) – 1 Nomination
  • Best Performance By An Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Edie Falco)

Nurse Jackie will return for a second season on Monday, March 22, 2010 on The Movie Network and Movie Central.

United States of Tara (Showtime) – 1 Nomination
