DUSK JANUARY 2010 PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS

(Toronto, Canada) In January, DUSK will take a look at the darker side of Hollywood’s top leading men. Beginning January 10th, viewers will experience 10 nights of films that will make them second-guess the boy next door.

LEADING MEN MARATHON EVENT
In this movie marathon event, DUSK offers some of the darker and suspenseful films featuring the top leading men of Hollywood. With 10 nights of movie star fuelled films from January 10 to January 19, the event features the premieres of Frailty, Vanilla Sky, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Enduring Love.

Frailty (2005) premieres Sunday, January 10 at 10 p.m., starring Matthew McConaughy
In the directorial debut of Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughy stars as one of the grownup Meiks brothers. The two brothers in their early adolescents are left alone with their father (Bill Paxton), a kind and sensitive man still recovering from the death of his beloved wife. Their world is turned upside down when their father announces that he has been entrusted with the holy mission of destroying demons who pose as ordinary men and women. With an axe and a list of names believed to be from God, Fenton and Adam are forced to help their father rid the world of these evil spirits.

Vanilla Sky (2001) premieres Wednesday, January 13 at 10 p.m., starring Tom Cruise
Directed by Cameron Crowe, Tom Cruise stars as handsome and charismatic New York City publishing executive, David Aames, who lives a seemingly charmed life of wealth and happiness. When David meets the girl of his dreams and loses her in the same night, and is disfigured in a tragic accident, he begins a mind-bending search for his soul and discovers the precious, ephemeral nature of true love. The film also stars Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Jason Lee.

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) premieres Friday, January 15 at 9 p.m., starring Matt Damon and Jude Law
Tom Ripley, in a borrowed Princeton jacket meets the wealthy father of recent Princeton grad, Dickie Greenleaf. After pretending to be friends with Greenleaf, Ripley is offered $1,000 to go to Italy to convince the young man to return home. Tom, whose talents include forgery and impersonating voices, charms his way into the lives of Dickie and his girlfriend Marge, where he experiences first hand how the other half lives. Tom's immediate attraction to Dickie makes apparent his desire to be anyone but himself, and as the friendship develops, his true character begins to emerge. As Dickie grows tired and suspicious of his new acquaintance, Tom sees his new life slipping away. Unwilling to return to his old lifestyle, he takes extreme measures in order to ensure his place in the privileged world that he has grown to love. The Talented Mr. Ripley based on the book of the same name stars Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Enduring Love (2004) premieres Saturday, January 16 at 9 p.m., starring Daniel Craig
On a beautiful cloudless day a young couple, Joe (Daniel Craig) and Claire (Samantha Morton), celebrate their reunion with a picnic. But their romantic day comes to an abrupt end as a hot air balloon drifts over them, obviously in trouble. The only passenger, a boy, is too scared to jump down and while trying to secure the basket another man is killed. Joe goes to retrieve the body of the fallen man with fellow rescuer Jed Parry (Rhys Ifans), who feels an instant connection with Joe – one that, as the weeks go by, becomes even more intense.
