From cash donations to fundraising activities, free air-time for Public Service Announcements and other gifts in kind, Corus and its employees work to assist, strengthen and enrich the areas and industries in which it operates.
Corus is committed to the “Caring Company” principles of the Imagine Program of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy. This involves an annual giving commitment of 1% of pre-tax profit to charitable organizations. Corus bases its calculation on both cash donations and the market value of airtime provided in support of charitable initiatives.
In fiscal 2006, Corus donated cash and airtime to over 400 organizations across Canada. The Company and its employees supported organizations including Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, Kids Help Phone, Kids Upfront, the Canadian Women’s Foundation and the United Way. With our annual employee pledge drive, fundraising initiatives and corporate matching program for employee donations, we increased our giving to the United Way each year over the last six years.
